London’s South Bank skate park or ‘undercroft’ has become the home of British skateboarding and an iconic centre for urban art. Street skateboarding makes use of urban environments and public areas, it is a style of skateboarding that often brings skaters into contact with the public.
This work looks at the positive impact skating has on youth: teaching them mutual respect, social networking, artistic expression and an appreciation of the environment. This work captures the attitudes and communication within this new wave generation. It is a fusion between body, colour, space and movement that creates a space of freedom and irreverence.
